Segregation & the jim crow laws

In 1877 in America, a set of rules known as the Jim Crow laws were legislated and were lawful until the end of formal segregation in 1964. Early years of segregation included regular lynching. Black citizens were refused access to 'white' offices, shops, and bathrooms. Opportunities for black citizens were incredibly limited and there was on onslaught of racial crime and violence.
